Morley taxi driver left terrified by knifepoint robbery attempt A TAXI driver has been left terrified after being attacked with a knife by a man who tried to rob him. Father-of-three Kamran Manzoor, 38, was left with cut arteries in his hand after the man attacked him with a knife, demanding money. Mr Manzoor, who has worked as a taxi driver in Morley for nine years, picked up the man from JD’s nightclub on Commercial Street at around 2.40am on July 1. The man got into Mr Manzoor’s Skoda Octavia and asked to be taken to Cottingley. He then asked the driver to stop on Cottingley Drive, close to the junction with Dulverton Place, while he went to get the fare from his house. Mr Manzoor said: “He left his mobile phone in the car while he went to get the money. “When he came back to the car he had changed his top - he was wearing a black T-shirt and now had a dark hoodie on. He took the knife out that was about 10ins long and said ‘give me money’. “I was shocked, I couldn’t believe it was happening. He tried to put the knife towards my head and as I tried to move it I cut my hand.” The man then ran off in the direction of Dulverton Place. Mr Mazoor said: “There was lots of blood and I called for an ambulance and the police.” His wife, Nazia, said: “He was in theatre for two hours and has had to have plastic surgery on his hand. “He won’t be able to work for three months and there is little help when you’re self-employed. “He has worked in Morley for nine-years and this is the first time anything like this has happened. “He’s scared of people now, just in case they have a knife. We all are. Even our children.” Detective are appealing for information to trace the attacker who is described as white, 25-27 years old, about 6ft tall, of thin build with short dark hair and have released CCTV pictures of him. He was wearing a pair of blue jeans, a black t-shirt with a motif on the front and he was carrying a white ‘I LOVE JD’s’ T-shirt. Anyone with information is asked to contact Holbeck CID via 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111. http://www.morleyobserver.co.uk/news/lo ... -1-4715368 |

I want to hear your solution, please do tell me how a stetched police force is going to be able to do any more than they already do short of having an officer ready to pounce in the boot? Basically all you can do is use your loaf, I've had one myself tonight, 6.5 tall and full of coke, two suspected broken hands where I guess he's hit a wall, told me he'd mashed some ***ts up in his own words, this one would've gone nasty had I not mediated it down, and if someone pulls a knife on you there isn't much you can do about it without getting in trouble yourself is there. |

This to a point is down to the L.A's - A guy/girl applies for a license and does the exam/necessaries, and then "without any interview" (in no other legislated occupation would this happen) gets the go ahead! By that I mean that there are no warnings as to what might be ahead, and most importantly no check is made as to whether the person concerned has enough people skills to avoid what could be before them. The above is about experience/people skills - a newby/foreigner will not necessarily have these skills OR know about our lot........................the powers that be - never ask if you are capable, as ever they just take the money and throw you/me to the lions! |
