From The London Evening Standard - Olypmics Diary London's cab drivers are feeling the Olympics strain. Driver Paul Churchill tweets: "An American has just tried to give me longitude and latitude co-ordinates to her hotel. I said I'm a cabbie, not a round-the-world yachtsman!" Primary source; London Evening Standard Secondary source; Sent to Brummie Cabbie's mobile as a multimedia image from his son Joseph who lives and works in the 'Smoke' |

I hear the streets of london are emptier of traffic than at any point in the last 50 years it seems that the olympics have cleared the city out |

Queues of Taxi's waiting for passengers on Tuesday outside a certain tube station. Man in Irish Camouflage with "Taxi Marshall" on it shouting out "Taxeeee boss" (touting?) and "Fare to (venue) £2:50 each" (doubling up) and therefore (overcharging) £12:50 to go a mile? No thanks mate, I can manage the walk. Committing three offences, or has there been a change in the law. But good luck to you lads, times must be hard down south. See you all tomorrow for the weekend, might try haggling for a cab to my hotel.

It is'nt Christmas party season time, but I took all the money I needed today. After seeing captain cabs tweet to me about waiting for over an hour and the fare that greeted him after that wait . . . we really have little to complain about. It's two weeks and they're gone forever.

I take it you'll be refering to the tennis? |

Its also on about it in the national press, about how Londoners have suddenly upped sticks and gone, leaving just the idiots to be ripped off |
