Do we need to train the Public how to Hail a Hackney Cab?

If we do, how would we go about this?

Perhaps we could persuade Hollywood to include their Hero hailing a Cab when when he wants to go somewhere? Do the Americans go about these things the same way as us Brits?

It is does not appear to be a problem in Metropolitan Areas, such as London, Manchester or Edinburgh, but does seem to be a problem in the County Towns and Suburbs, where many people seem to look at you, in what they think of as a meaningful way, rather than sticking their hand out, so that you can see them.

If we need to teach punters how to stick their hands in the air then this country is in a real sorry state.

Maybe you could Adopt, Adapt and Improve the Lyrics to " Simon Says" to get your message across and then translate it into a 133 Languages and their regional Dialects as we Brits always do (but the french don't) and then post it on the World Wide Web.

We could get some leaflets printed and hand them out to passengers and the public.

And produce a short but professionally made video with narrative explaining the methodology and procedure of hailing a taxi, including finding the best spot to hail from so that you are easily noticed by the cabbie.

Get that process captured by the national press and that would create local and national news and TV coverage, including airing the video.

Once the national trade has enjoyed this publicity we could then watch the yobs flagging us down on every street corner day and night and then run off as you pull up beside them.
