Taxi driver assaulted outside TESCO

A TAXI driver needed hospital treatment after he was punched in the face outside the TESCO superstore in Burgess Hill.

The incident happened on Saturday night and police and an ambulance were called to the store off Jane Murray Way at about 7.45pm.

A police spokesman said: “Three men were arrested for assault following a row with a taxi driver. Police were called after the 25-year-old driver was punched in the face after he asked the men to stop drinking in his taxi.

“The men, all from Burgess Hill, were arrested and questioned.

“A 19-year-old was cautioned for a public order offence, a 29-year-old was cautioned for assault and a 21-year-old who was also arrested for possession of cannabis was cautioned for that offence. No further action was taken against him for the assault.”

The taxi driver was taken by ambulance to the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath, suffering from neck pain and a facial injury. Thank you to the shopper who sent us this picture.

he loses a few days work and they get a slap on the wrist this is the trouble with this country it's not what the offence is but who you commit the offence against that determines the sentence
