Cheltenham taxi driver robbed and slashed with machete

A TAXI driver was attacked with machete and robbed of £200 as he responded to a call out.

The 60-year-old believed to from Cheltenham was slashed on his shoulders, hand and his mouth during the attack in the early hours of Friday.

He was attacked by the two offenders, believed to be men, who came out of an alleyway when he rang on a door bell in St Peter’s Close at about 4.30am.

He was forced to hand over £200 from his taxi before the hoodie wearing attackers are believed to have made off on foot towards Moors Avenue.

A spokesman for the police said the victim was out of hospital after receiving stitches.

The offenders are described as around 5ft 9ins, in their 20s and wearing black trousers, black t-shirts and hoods over their faces.

Anyone with information can contact police on 101 quoting incident 69 of August 24.

A lot of cash to be carrying but if it was towards the end of the shift. Mind you if he's taken £200 on a single shift work must be good round there. I doubt he'll be earning much now though so leys hope they get these two toerags and teach them a lesson !

We are slowly but surely picking up the ways of the the third world emigre, whether or not these attackers were white or black is of no consequence but the weapon used here is certainly of third world origin. It's the weapon of choice in darkest Africa.
