Church man threw loose change at taxi driver A 34-YEAR-OLD man who threw loose change into a taxi after a row over the fare was charged with assault after a coin hit the driver’s nose, causing a small cut. Peter James Campbell pleaded guilty, on a reckless basis, to what defence solicitor Graeme Parkinson described as a ‘demonstration of frustration’. Campbell, of France Street, Church, pleaded guilty, at Blackburn Magistrates’ Court, to assaulting Shazad Khan. He was made subject to community supervision for 12 months, and ordered to pay £100 compensation, and £100 costs. Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said Campbell had offered £3 to pay the fare, but Mr Khan was not happy with that, and an argument developed. Mr Parkinson said Campbell had thrown the coins through the open window expecting them to hit the steering wheel, or dashboard. “It seems one of them has hit the window edge and deflected onto the driver’s nose, but that was never the intention,” said Mr Parkinson. http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/ne ... xi_driver/ |

He offered £3 but what was the fare anyway, £3 sounds like a minimum charge if he went further than that then the driver is in the right to ask for more. This happened to me some time ago, man said your getting the normal £3.50 and if you want anymore you can take it out of this and pointed to his nose, he only owed another 60p in waiting time that I charge him but he no like waiting time even though he made me wait nearly fifteen minutes for him, I gave him the first ten for free he think cos he regular he no pay extra. |

Quote: I gave him the first ten for free he think cos he regular he no pay extra. One of the main reasons as to why I would NEVER do P.H or work for a company.......waiting!!!!!!!!!! You are a very generous man! Working on two customers per hour basis and treating everyone the same - over an eight hour shift you are losing 2 hours and 40 minutes EARNING time - you cannot afford regulars such as that piece of garbage.

Unfortunately "Tico" had a punter who was not in the same frame of mind. Having said that you are not going to get a punter very often who is prepared to pay an extra charge -it will be more like! It was your fault drive..............YOU were waiting at the wrong entrance/exit/fire escape/servants quarters/whatever

Did anyone else think it was referring to a clergyman when they read "Church man ...." The guy must have felt the wrath of God when he was hit by those coins
