Drunken man bit taxi driver on cheek

A MAN who had drunk ten pints bit a taxi driver on his cheek and ear after the driver told him to leave his cab, a court heard.

Steven Davies, 20, was known to Leighton Sparkes as Davies had previously taken a ride in his cab without any money to pay.

Before he let Davies into his taxi on March 3, he asked him if he had enough money for the journey.

Creighton Harvey, prosecuting, said Davies confirmed he did but halfway to his destination in Tonna admitted he did not.

Mr Sparkes then stopped the taxi and told Davies to get out.

Davies, of Heol y Graig, Cilfrew, then lent forward and bit him on the cheek and left ear.

While it was happening the taxi began to roll forward but Mr Sparkes managed to grab the handbrake.

Davies later called the taxi firm, who told him they were planning to press charges against him.

Davies then called police, saying he was the victim of an attack.

Huw Wallace, representing Davies at Swansea Crown Court, said his client had drunk ten pints shortly before the incident.

He admitted Davies had a drink problem but said he was trying to tackle it.

Judge Michael Burr said it was an "unpleasant" and "disgraceful" attack.

He said it was "unacceptable" that staff working at night could be attacked.

Davies was jailed for eight months.

I wouldn't even have said that. If they don't pay once they never get another chance.

In short f*** em.
