Thought this was a Taxi and Private Here forum?

Nobody on here whinging about this and that at the show?

Looked at about 50 of those bloody van conversions before I found one that could actually carrying a wheelchair using customer in safety.

Some of the build quality was even more appalling than usual. Scotcab was a joke.

As with every show for the last 5 years there wasn't much new to be seen.

One question I would like to ask others is this.

'If you got punters to book cars by text how do you think they will react to being charge 50p to receive a confirmation text?'

I don't think they would be too pleased, unless they had no other choice.

I know of a firm that does call back via text, and the punters pay for this. Not a lot of them appreciate that one bit.

As I have never been to the deep north show, is it better/busier than Sandown?

Didn't make it.

But there's always Sandown in October :)

Ah but there isn't this year. Thankfully the cramp congested Sandown venue is being replace with Wembley Conference Centre.

Hard to judge how many are there because there is so much more space between stands. Certainly feels quieter than Donnington, but that may just be misleading.

i suppose if it goes well then 50p isnt much.
but if the confirmation comes back wrong, then you will have to go through the whole thing again.
does anyone really think texting for a cab is good.
or is it a case of the boffins trying to sort a problem that doesnt exist? :?

Boffins. No money men. 50p charge for the text about 10p goes to taxi company.

One bright spark promoting such a scheme told me that if we turned up and the customer wasn't there we could charge the fare to their mobile account.

He didn't answer the question about how you tell a punter booking by text that there is an hour wait.

Because he is part of a growing band of chaps who know f*** all about our trade, but keep coming up with these wonderful ideas that cost fortunes, but create little or no extra work. :-k

Of course you wally.

Bigger for sure, well Bryan was. :D

Serious lack of mutton dressed as lamb though.

Fair few fat gits in dirty t shirts, making blue jogging bottoms and brown shoes.

Have to say that the quality of vehicles in car park was a marked improvement than a few years ago. Maybe this trade is getting its act together slowly but surely.

can only talk about brighton but the quality of vehicle has never been better.
i think thats because of the cheap deals you can get out of the trade papers.
but the quality of a too large percentage of drivers is not good.
