hi guys can anyone tell me if I can appeal a bus lane enforcement charge in North Hanover Street Glasgow , I drive a public hire saloon vehicle from Falkirk. I did have a roof sign on but the light was not on and its difficult to make out in the photo as it was 12.30 am.

If you were in another area, I think your roof sign should be off.

The camera should have been able to see your roof sign and your rear taxi license plate. If you got a ticket , maybe your plate isn't easily seen, some have them lying on the rear parcel shelf. Only licensed taxis and PHCs are permitted in the lanes. Oh and yes as said, your light should have been off as you were outside your own area.

Is this the place ?

Then according to the signs yes you can use the lane as long as you are a licensed taxi (hackney) and not PH.

Some saloons switch on with the road lights though?

Don't be to hard on them. They do have to try and justify their existance.

Saw an East Dumbartonshire cab in Glasgow tonight with the license plate taped to the back window which slants steeply, he may have probs too with the bus lane cameras. I'm sure that somewhere in the regs the plate has to be fixed to the outside of the cab on the rear in plain view. Methinks the taped up version is asking for trouble :? It's the plate that the powers that be will look for when viewing the pics not a taxi sign.

Might be worthwhile to contact Glasgow City Council Taxi and Private Hire Section and enquire if your details are on database, if not then I am sure that once you sent your PH details to Bus Lane Enforcement they will add your details and it wont happen again. Check out the BUS LANE ENFORCEMENT-GLASGOW CITY COUNCIL website for all the details and  http://www.roadtrafficlaw/pssst...want to know where the bus lane cameras are in glasgow ? The cameras use ANPR .
The Taxi Enforcement team in Glasgow are very busy at the moment also trying to halt the problem of "pirate " drivers especially in the City Centre, and I , for one think that they should be thanked for that. =D>
