Hello, started reading the T2T thread phone apps and thought it best to have a separate one on cab:app I signed up with cabapp for all the reasons given on the other thread. I cant justify paying £80 a week for a radio that doesn’t give me 160 jobs a week. cab:app jobs are just 50p I don’t want to pay £80 quid week in week out whether I use it or not. cab:app jobs only cost me when I take them. Radio circuits don’t want me finding my own work or using another system. cab:app doesn’t interfere with my business at all. Working the streets without a radio is fine, when they are busy so am I when they are quiet so am i. cab:app gives me a chance of hires back into the centre of town where all the rank work is. cab:app cost me nothing, to try it gives me a free credit card facility which I saved me a lot of trouble when ATMs wouldn’t work. cab:app is signing up drivers all over the uk and will continue to which means customers are coming of trains, buses and planes already using cab:app. The potential for my taxi business in being part of it is huge. 10% of the taxis in my town have agreed and signed up in a matter of weeks. Looking at a public launch very soon. Drivers have signed up to my knowledge already in Glasgow, Aberdeen and Edinburgh. If we are all wrong then it has cost us nothing. If that’s for you sign up if not then, all the best my friends. Which app then? Check them out, look at the websites, TaxiTalk magazine has editorials this month and say they will feature next, try them all and make your own mind up! |

You want or expect 160 jobs per week from a radio company, thats 23 jobs per 7 days or 2.3 jobs per hour in a 10 hour day every day of the week and only pay £80 per week for this, something wrong here or you are dilluded, are you really a cabbie or a broker who likes playing with numbers

Also, if you get zero jobs, you pay zilch. If you have a radio, what does the cost per job average out to? |

Lets say 1 week i get 100 radio jobs averaging £10 a job, thats £1000 pound turnover for an outlay of £80, sorry but this is realistic, his figure is so unrealistic it makes me wonder if he is a real cabby, i maybe wrong though

So thats £1 per job based on a circuit fee of £100 a week, my figure is gauranteed week in week out, there are no gaurantees working the street and certainly no gaurantee using an APP, id rather base my working week on experiance and experiance gaurantees my figures, years ago the street work was there it is no longer there, im lucky to be part of a co-operative where my dues are not only benefiting me but help keep others in a job and also help to protect my trade from profiteering brokers making quick bucks at our trades expense. The above proves i have a little bit of socialism in me

Ive said previously if an APP is part of an established radio circuit then it is a great addition as our APP currently is but signing up any random opens up potential trouble for our trade, its unregulated, its unlicenced as far as i know, unless its part of a circuit cc its a rival, it could also cause a lot of damage to the hack trade if its not run properly,it can only work in conjuction with a radio circuit but this is not enough for quick buckers, they only care about the numbers not the customer. Lets see what evolves though

It seems to me PR you are happy with your radio circuit, the work it gives you and the management thereof. Good luck to you and that's great. No need for you to use cab:app then. But be fair to everyone else who might not be. Just for a moment consider that there might be some cabbies even in your own area who are not as happy as you. Why slag it off, and from what you have posted why not be fair to cab:app and check out the facts before jumping on a soapbox. Not all radio circuits are owned and operated by knights in shining armour, championing the trade above all else. Oh and I am a street car, I know how it works, always returning to town centre ranks where the work is, sometimes getting hailed on the way. usually not. So if i can increase my chances to pick up the odd hire from the app on the way back in I will take the hit of 50p for the work. And I am quite happy taking street hires whilst radio cars drive by them on the way to a job they have been sent to. Difference is if I see an app job and its close I take it, by choice. But that's real in my town. Yours is probably different. |

Prove me wrong on the issue of regulation and licencing. You have the app, how did cab app prove you are who you say you are ? Our apps customers know that they are safe in the knowledge that we hold a booking office licence, does cab app hold any kind of booking office licence ? |

Decided to give this one a go. Have applied for registration and awaiting activation. It's 50p per job for Glasgow and you get 5 free credits to start you off. Nuthin' to lose so we'll see.
