Liverpool mum's horror as daughter, six, picks up cocaine in back of taxi

A LIVERPOOL mum today spoke of her horror after her six-year-old daughter nearly put cocaine into her mouth after picking up the drug in the back of a taxi.

Joanne Donaldson was taking her daughter Ellie to school in the taxi when noticed she was holding a small white object close to her face

Joanne said: “It was wrapped up, I thought it was a tissue when I first saw it.

“I then realised what it was and took it off her.

“If I hadn’t have spotted it she could have taken it to school thinking it was a sweet.

“Any kids who got in that taxi could have picked it up and swallowed it and that would be the end.”

Joanne had booked the taxi to pick them up from their home in Crossens and take them to St John’s Church of England Primary.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “We received a report of a quantity of a substance, believed to Class A drugs, found in the back of a taxi.

“The substance will now be sent off for forensic analysis and we ask anyone with any information about how it came to be in the back of the taxi to come forward.

“Drugs are a blight on our communities and we act on all information we receive to take illegal substances and those involved in the drugs trade off our streets.

“We urge anyone with any information about drugs in their communities to call us so we can take action.”

Anyone with any information is asked to call Merseyside Police on 101
