Taxi firms to take part in survey

Scottish Liberal Democrat South Scotland MSP Jim Hume is urging taxi firms across East Lothian to take part in the SNP’s consultation on its plans to introduce tighter controls on taxi licensing and private car hire.

He said: “The SNP say that the consultation is in response to concerns about the influence of criminality within the trade and the working of the current licensing regime.

“As such, the proposals offer a range of changes to the current system which are aimed at tightening up the licensing process.

“However, I’m anxious to ensure that the smaller and often family run businesses are not adversely affected by the proposals. ”

The consultation can be found at – http://www.scotland.gov.uk/News/Release ... ng28112012

Normally the expression "A Sledge hammer to crack a Nut" would spring to mind, However when the SNP's Kenny MacAskill MSP - Cabinet Secretary for Justice has an input only the word "Nut" stands out.

Good grief. We agree.

Wanna bet there aint been a single complaint by any member of the public that the car that took them home was part of a crime ring?

This isn't about the influence of crime on the hire car trade, it's about more SNP fascist control of the taxi trade.

For my part, I'm more concerned that the councils the SNP support, and who are created in theior own fascist image, allow disgraced cops, involved in drugs and abuse of position, to get a taxi licence, all while revoking licences of drivers of much more minor misdemeanours.

We have a saying to cover this. Once again Macascum and his cronies have got it *rse over t*t.

BTW base licensing already contains all the powers needed to ensure a crime free hire car trade. So what is this really about?

I have read that also included in the consultation is restricting the issue white plates and making the booking office charge for operators with less than 4 cars regardless of them having a base
