Masked men raid home of taxi boss



A BUSINESSMAN and his family were terrorised by a machete gang during a burglary.

Masked men armed with the machetes and a kitchen knife stormed the Birkdale home of taxi boss John Woods.

The ECHO understands that Mr Woods was punched in the face during the burglary, and that children were in the house during the raid, although nobody else was injured.

After the raid the gang made off with a Range Rover, a watch, jewellery, two laptops and a number of mobile phones.

Mr Woods declined to speak to the ECHO although a family member confirmed the raid took place at around 8pm on Sunday January 20.

Mr Woods's Range Rover was later found on Langley Lane.

Mr Woods is a partner in Southport company Central Cabs.

DC Adam Burke from Ormskirk CID said: “Understandably the victims have been left shaken following what can only be described as a terrifying ordeal and they also had property stolen.”

why bother?

Range Rover............probably fitted with a tracker

a watch.....if its a Rolex it will have a serial number

jewellery........fenced for peanuts

two laptops.........could have keystroke/tracker installed

and a number of mobile phones.............worth SFA once blocked
