A MAN who police say punched a Wirral taxi driver in a row over takeaway food is wanted by police.
At around 10pm, on January 12, the 68-year-old victim had told a couple who had got into his cab with takeaway food that he would have to open the windows slightly to take away the smell.
Police say the couple objected due to the cold and when the driver asked them to get another taxi instead, the man assaulted him by punching him on the chin.
The couple then ran away from the taxi rank in Salisbury Street in the direction of Charring Cross after police were called.
The taxi driver was not injured but was left upset and shaken by the punch.
Enquiries led detectives to want to speak to the man in CCTV pictures taken from a nearby McDonalds restaurant on the night of the incident.
