'No crime' committed in Barrow taxi - police

A POLICE investigation has found 'no crime' was committed after a woman made a complaint about a Barrow taxi driver.

A Facebook page popular with taxi drivers in the Furness area reported news of the alleged incident.

One of the town’s cabbies said they had heard the female had taken a taxi in Cavendish Street, Barrow, on Sunday morning. They said it was alleged that the male driver took the passenger on a “mystery ride” and told her she could pay “in kind”.

However, this afternoon a police spokeswoman said: "After conducting an investigation into allegations that a Barrow taxi driver made inappropriate sexual advances towards a female passenger, police can confirm that a crime did not take place.

"Police received reports that an intoxicated woman in her 20s took a taxi ride on Sunday morning, when allegedly the driver made inappropriate sexual advances towards her.

"Police officers reviewed CCTV from the vehicle which captured the journey and can confirm that no criminal offences were committed.

"Police work closely with partner agencies and Barrow Borough Council has been informed about the incident."

How much would that driver be suffering if no CCTV evidence backed him up? :-k

Or if the local authority had switched their CCTV off?

Whoever made the allegations should be prosecuted.

Don't be daft they won't do that, they'll be free to do it again to another cabbie.
