Post subject:  Putting a car on the road - Rookie advice

Hi folks,

I'm thinking of buying a car and hiring it to a driver. Goal being both the driver and myself make a small profit. I take care of the purchase and running costs, driver the day to day fares.

Area will be Glasgow or North Lanarkshire. Can anyone offer any advice? Completely new to this so wondering:

Taxi registration – Where to find info, what's the process, cost, any tips?
    Insurance – Process involved, cost?
Driver contract – Drawing up an agreement that's fair for both myself and the driver?
General advice – Things a rookie to this should know?

Many thanks.

Glasgow doesn't issue any more "Taxi" licenses but anyone can get a private hire one subject to application conditions being met, but if you're thinking of PH, I wouldn't bother, the place is polluted with them

I know a couple of guys in North Lanarkshire and it's tough going there too and IIRC you have to renew your car every 5, I think, years or so.
You pays yer money???????
