Man attacked with axe while walking home with family from night outA man has been attacked by two men, one of whom was wielding an axe, while walking home with his family.
The 51-year-old victim needed stitches to an arm wound following the assault in Caledonia Road, in the Gorbals area of Glasgow, at about 1am on Monday.
Police Scotland said he was returning home with his wife and nephew from a night out when the two assailants struck.
A force spokesman said the attack appeared to be "completely random".
Police are keen to speak to a passing cab driver who stopped at the scene and came to the man's aid. His silver private hire car, possibly a Skoda, may also have been hit with the axe.
Detective Constable James O'Rourke, of Greater Glasgow CID, said: "This appears to be a completely random attack, so I'd ask anyone with any information about what happened to come forward. Meantime, we're increasing police patrols in the area."
Both men are described as in their mid to late 20s and wore dark-hooded tops. One of the men was around 5ft 10ins tall with dark eyes, bushy eyebrows and stubble, and wore dark tracksuit bottoms.
Anyone with information should call Govan Police Office on 0141 532 5400, the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers, who take anonymous calls, on 0800 555111.
