Had it confirmed to me at the weekend, although I already knew it to be the case. PH companies who manage their own cars in their fleet feed work to their own cars first. And those struggling to make ends meet are fed the scraps off the table. So, if you're not driving a company car, chances are you're being dragged further, allocated the shorter jobs and sent to venues where the chance of a no show are greater. Which also explains how someone, having signed on early morning, can be given a job late afternoon to the far north, leading to 21 and a half continuous hours in the saddle and placing customers and other road users at risk. it's who you know.

Christ you still banging that tired old drum? about the 21 hours driving? as for work being slung to base cars, it might be an issue at some companies but not all. as much is it may shock you there are some professionally run and thoroughly decent Private Hire companies out there, who treat their drivers fairly and don't pee on them from a great height |

And the prize for the best ever smiley on TDO goes to ... Captain cab. Quality. And Foxers, I take it you see nothing wrong with anyone driving for 21 hours? That what you're saying?

Out of favour and you're languishing on a city centre zone with cars being pulled off behind you. Controllers can't be trusted. End of. PH companies have their favourityes. They make dough. Those out of favour make enough to cover their rentals and just enough above that to keep them coming back. And they do keep coming back. 12 hour shifts, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year. And that's why PH is inherently dangerous. BTW My rellies did complain to me about the state of the vehicles. They obviously thought me being a cabbie I had something to do with it.
