Birmingham taxi driver admits pregnant woman's death An unlicensed taxi driver has admitted causing the death of a pregnant care worker in Birmingham.
Ahtia Tabasim, who worked at a nursing home, died in hospital after a crash in Landor Street, Saltley, on 27 January.
Recently married and expecting her first child, the 28-year-old's car was hit by a Renault driven by Javad Malik.
Malik, 25, of Yardley Fields Road, Yardley, pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving. He is due to be sentenced in July.
At Birmingham Crown Court, he also admitted driving with no licence or insurance, possessing cocaine and heroin with intent to supply, and possession of cannabis.
Recorder for Birmingham Judge William Davis QC told Malik: "It hardly needs me to tell you that the offences to which you have pleaded guilty are, both singularly and cumulatively, very serious.
"You [are] bound to be sentenced to a very significant term of imprisonment."
