How secure is cab app?

Could any taxi or driver download the app and use it?
Is it possible for bogus drivers or unvetted licence holders to download the app and start picking up passengers that could be children?
Do users/members of cab app have to have security checks and other safety measures like Disclosure Scotland?

or a nice soundbite A local councillor has (on the back of a 13yr old's funeral) put forward a proposal that ALL taxis should accept chip and pin card payments. He reckons it would allow parents to give their kids the means to get home safely without the need for cash. This has been welcomed by the provost and will be put to the licencing dept for consideration and consultation by the trade forum. I have no problem with chip and pin, per se, but like cameras I'm not comfortable with the thought of it being imposed without any help to finance the hardware costs. This should be left to each and every driver to decide if a)he wants it, and b) it is affordable. I await the next forum meeting to see what the mood of the trade is to this latest initative. So far it's negative. Comments include "I've taxied for x years and never been asked to accept a card payment". "What work all night and wait for days to see the money cos everybody has a card, feck that" he "spent" his bus fare and decided to take a shortcut over a motorway to get home quicker. (A tragedy on so many levels).

How secure is chip and pin? Many scams have been highlighted? Kids would be required to carry a parents credit card? Free Download cab:app to your smartphone. No other hardware required. Parents can pre register a card saving the worry of lost cards. Kids just has to know the 3 digit security number. And with a smartphone of their own, they can hail a taxi with added safety of getting every detail of the vehicle and driver.

Download triggers the registration process. Drivers are then placed in pending until cab:app are satisfied you are a bona fide driver. If you have any smartphone check it out. It costs nothing, and if there is something in the process that troubles you or could be done better let them know. They will be pleased to hear it because it is for all our benefit. And if you don't like what you see don't use it. But at least you have the facility to accept cards as the councillor proposes. To get back on topic

Our LA cant accept a card payment for fees so i doubt they will worry about cars tacking card payments plus, are fees legal, who pays the fees...

I was in a bar today after watching hibs hearts derby. Knew I was short before I ordered and asked if they took card payments "Yeah of course, what would you like?" In today's world and it's becoming ever more a cashless society, chip n pin or other card payments are the way of the world

In my world which, with respect, is real to me, I work in a service industry, where giving the customer what they want and a bit more has immediate tangible ££ rewards.
