Woman attacked after getting into ‘taxi’ A young woman was taken to a hotel and assaulted after getting into what she thought was a Bedford taxi.
Police are appealing for information after a 28 year old woman reported being assaulted after a night out.
The incident began on Sunday, May 26 at approximately 12.56am after the woman left the Barley Mow in Bromham Road in the town and got in to, what she thought was a taxi.
The driver took her to the Travel Lodge in Goldington Road where the assault took place.
The victim has been spoken to by specialist officers and a 36 year old man has been arrested in connection with this incident and released on police bail pending further investigation.
The officer in charge of this investigation, DC Barry Townson, is keen to trace anyone who saw the woman getting in to a car in Bromham Road.
He said: “The victim is still shaken by what has happened and I would urge anyone who saw the woman getting in to the car, which is described as a dark coloured saloon, and who has not already spoken with police to come forward and do so now.
“I would also take this opportunity to remind anyone who is out and about late at night to ensure they stay with friends, tell people where you are going and what time you will arrive and always use registered pre-booked taxis.”
Anyone with information relating to this incident is urged to contact DC Townson, in confidence, on 101, or text information to 07786 200011.
