Woman assaulted in Tadworth by taxi driver imposterA woman in her 20s has been sexually assaulted after being approached in the street in Surrey by a man claiming to be a taxi driver.
The victim had left a house party in Tadworth and was walking towards Tattenham Corner railway station when the man approached her on foot.
He offered her a lift but when she refused he pushed her to the ground and assaulted her.
The attacked happened between 21:15 and 21:50 BST on Saturday.
Surrey Police said the woman was able to get free and was helped on to a train at the station by a man at a nearby bus stop in Great Tattenhams.
Distressed state
The woman was wearing two gold bangles which she lost during the assault. Police have appealed to anyone who finds them to hand them in immediately.
They also want to speak to the man who helped the victim on to the station in a distressed state at about 22:00.
The attacker is described as black, with short hair and a muscular build. He was wearing a white T-shirt with a collar and dark trousers and spoke with a south London accent.
"We are working to piece together any information that could help to identify this man," said Det Sgt Mark Parry.
"I would encourage anyone who was out in the Tadworth and Tattenham area on the evening of 1 June who may have seen a man matching this description or who has any information about the incident to contact us."
