Drug dealer's 'prominent role' in supplying cocaine and cannabis

A drug dealer played a "prominent role" in supplying cocaine and cannabis worth £500,000.

Kevin McIndoe was found by police with a bin bag containing more than three kilos of cocaine worth an estimated £130,000.

Officers also raided properties linked to the 34-year-old in East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire, where they discovered around 40 kilos of cannabis resin hidden in a cooker hood in a lock-up garage.

At the High Court in Edinburgh on Thursday, McIndoe was jailed for six years after being caught involved in drug dealing.

Lord Turnbull told McIndoe: "You have pled guilty to being concerned in the supply of very large quantities of two different forms of controlled drugs." The judge said he had played "a prominent role" including arrangements for the pressing and packaging of drugs and having responsibility for delivering valuable amounts to lower level dealers.

McIndoe, of East Kilbride’s Melville Park, who is currently serving a prison sentence for another drugs offence, earlier admitted being concerned in the supply of cocaine between April 13 and May 20 last year with the offence aggravated by a connection with serious organised crime. He also pled guilty to being concerned in the supply of the class-B drug cannabis resin on May 20 last year

He came under surveillance as part of a police operation and on April 13 was seen by officers to drive from East Kilbride to the car park of the Malletsheugh Inn in Newton Mearns, East Renfrewshire, for a drugs handover. A private hire taxi pulled up beside him and he was seen leaning into the vehicle as he delivered a carrier bag.

The taxi was followed and stopped in Glasgow when almost a kilo of cocaine worth £40,000 was found. McIndoe was being watched again on May 19 and was seen at the block of flats in East Kilbride’s Gullion Park. Another man set off from there before being stopped by Grampian Police on the A90 road, near Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire.

He was found to have cocaine worth £29,000. Police estimated that the kilos of cocaine found with McIndoe when they then raided the flat at Gullion Park had a potential value of more than £130,000 if cut up into smaller street deals. The potential value of the cannabis seized in the operation was £327,000.

Defence solicitor advocate Liam O'Donnell said McIndoe had been made redundant and became involved in the drug dealing where he was used by others.

McIndoe's co-accused and friend joiner Ross McMillan, 31, of Paterson Terrace, East Kilbride, was jailed for three years after he earlier admitted being concerned in the supply of cocaine on May 20 last year aggravated by a connection with serious organised crime.
