Thats not good news...I suppose as usual its common sense out the window. Kangaroo's make it harder for drivers to quit using a substance device that's proved to be safe. Talk about oppressing with hob nailed boots goose stomping the trade!

What a forty two carrot plonker, I bet he made this up all by himself,
He and the council cannot stop drivers from using them, and if they tried to suspend a licence the driver would get it back with an immediate appeal to a magistrate as the driver would not have broken any UK laws

There are a lot of question marks Skippy-its going to cost to appeal to magistrates-these LO's; cretins that they are are not going to impose this in writing unless they have done their homework surely?

I would be inclined to send that to the press.

I see with my own eyes these things working.

Anyone who does anything to stop people using e-cigs to stop smoking is a Image of the highest order.

Not that I am aware off , just discussed at a monthly meeting between local councillors and the licensing department.

How can they take away your livelihood for a week if you are caught smoking (e-cig or real cig) and admit it, and if you deny it and are then found to be guilty, force you to sit a driver training course and banned from working for two weeks.
Would this stand up on appeal to a magistrates court ?

to my knowledge the council is allowed to make its own by-laws on matters such as this but it over rules the smoking ban which at no point bans electronic cigs, I would say give it to the local papers o even better an electronic cig company and let them take the council to court for you (think e lites is one of the biggest in the uK with a multi million pound budget, lets see how the council likes that.

No.

I would give the Ombudsman a go.

What expert opinion do you want? Opinion on the Ecig which is 90% vegetable glycerine which can be purchased in ASDA and 10% nicotine which can also be purchased in shops.

There's no expert opinion needed at all, your Council are being cunts, expert opinion is needed to look at who they employ and what job title they get and where they get these bird brained ideas from.

I'd like to see a case go to Court, the Magistrate will tear the Council a new backside.

Personally think they try it on with us...because they know they can and get away with it. If the learned tinkers tailors and candlestick makers have all voted a ban on e ciggs into conditions, and a driver is breached for flouting these conditions...might be an idea to take up with ASH, the manufacturer's or other pressure groups who might jump at the free publicity on the back of it all?
