Taxi drivers warned over loan sharks A CAMPAIGN has been launched in North Somerset warning taxi drivers to steer clear of loan sharks. North Somerset Council is working with the England Illegal Money Lending Team to launch the initiative with Somerset Savings and Loans Credit Union to urge drivers to use safe and legal alternatives. Drivers are being encouraged to open credit union accounts to save up and help pay for the costs of running a cab and any other unexpected expenditure, and enable them to obtain credit from a safe and legal source when necessary. The first 50 drivers to sign up will be rewarded with a cash bonus of £10 if they continue to save regularly for three months. Read more: http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/Taxi-dri ... z2iKuzLHmf |

It's becoming the norm in all areas I'm afraid. Not far from where I live is a loan shark offering Taxi Drivers loans with double bubble repayments. You borrow £250 and payback £500. |

If you slip into an overdraft the banks will hit you with a £25 fee for a few hours, Wonga will charge you £25 to borrow £200 for a few weeks. |

It's easy enough to set up a collection point at the office for credit union, when you pay your settle you can pay into the credit union too, that is of course if you have any cash to pay in for savings. |
