Merseyside taxi driver shot in garage passenger rowA taxi driver was shot after his passengers got into an argument with another group of men on a petrol forecourt in Merseyside, police said.

A silver Skoda Octavia was shot at after four men inside argued with six men at the garage on Whitefield Drive, Kirkby, at 01:15 BST.

The driver, 61, was not thought to be the intended target, police said.

He is being treated in hospital for serious injuries to his arm and chest and his condition is said to be stable.

'Reckless behaviour'

There were no reports of other injuries.

All the men had left the scene when emergency services arrived and a search for them is ongoing, police said.

They are all described as being white, with five wearing dark-coloured clothing and the sixth wearing a cream coloured Adidas-type top.

Supt Kevin Wellens said: "This thoughtless and reckless type of behaviour cannot be tolerated, and we are fortunate that no one else was injured particularly as this took place on a garage forecourt.

"I would appeal to members of the community who know the people involved to come forward so we can take positive action and take the offenders off the streets before anyone else gets hurt."

Just goes to show you never know who is getting into your vehicle !!! I hope he makes a full recovery but I doubt he will ever go back to work after this

Two men arrested after Merseyside minicab driver shot

Two men have been arrested after a minicab driver was shot when his passengers got into an argument with another group of men on a petrol forecourt.

A silver Skoda Octavia was shot at after four men inside argued with six men at the garage on Whitefield Drive, Kirkby, in Merseyside, at 01:15 BST.

The driver, 61, was not thought to be the intended target, police said.

The suspects, aged 20 and 18, were held in Kirkby on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a firearm.

They have been taken to a police station on Merseyside to be questioned by detectives.

Emergency services were called to the scene and the minicab driver was discovered alone with injuries to his arm and chest.

He is being treated in hospital for serious injuries to his arm and chest and his condition is said to be stable, the force said.
