Man arrested over taxi robbery bid in Fife

A man has been arrested in connection with the attempted robbery of a private hire taxi driver in Fife.

The incident happened at about 05:00 on Sunday.

A 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged with attempted robbery after the taxi driver was targeted in Lansbury Street, Kirkcaldy.

The man is due to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court in connection with the incident later. Police are appealing for witnesses.

Det Sgt Colin Robson, of Police Scotland, said: "This was a frightening experience for the taxi driver and fortunately he wasn't injured.

"We have extra officers dedicated to investigating the incident and have increased patrols in the area and would appeal for anyone with information to contact Police Scotland."
