Taxi driver accused of rape



A taxi driver who is accused of raping a woman passenger has made his first appearance at a magistrates’ court.


Brian Gidman, 53, of Langdale Road, Mereside, Blackpool, pleaded not guilty to raping the 33-year-old woman.

The offence is alleged to have taken place in Blackpool on September 21 last year, the court was told.

Don Green, prosecuting, asked magistrates for the case to be heard before a crown court.

Brett Chappell, defending, told the magistrates’ court: “He categorically denies this matter.”

Gidman was bailed by Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.

He will appear at Preston Crown Court on Thursday, January 30.

Some one remind us how many scatty vindictive or maybe just mentally ill make such accusations and later withdraw them :?: :?:

A few, but I suspect it pales into insignificance the amount of ladies who never even report such nasty experiences. :sad:
