Police appeal after taxi driver assaulted in Redditch


POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a taxi driver was assaulted in Redditch.

The 40-year-old, who was driving a while Fiat Scudo, stopped near Papa Johns pizza in Church Green West at about 12.45pm on Saturday, May 16 to drop off his five passengers.

But as one of them went to pay he snatched the money bag and assaulted the driver, who got out of his car to try and get it back and a scuffle broke out in the street before the passengers, described as white men in their late teens and early twenties, ran off.

The driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to the Alexandra Hospital.

The stolen bag is described as small and black and was made of leather with three zip pockets.

Witnesses to the incident are asked to call police on 101 quoting 32-s-160515.
