The new MOT system is up and running, using computers linked to Gov dept. will this mean higher charges, will there be a charge for a retest as the garage who performed the test will have to access the computers again, http://www.ukmot.com/MOT%20computerisation.asp |

Talking of MOTs, the DfT consultation said: The legal requirement is that taxis and PHVs should be subject to an MOT test or its equivalent once a year after the first three years. An annual test for licensed vehicles of whatever age (that is, including vehicles that are less than three years old) seems appropriate I thought that a taxi or PHV had to be MOTd even if it was less than three years old?

mine was at two years old. i had a mate buy a brand new motor still needs an MOT/plate test. |

Our Council test is an MOT test. We need one every six months, including brand new vehicles. Then, once five years old, we need an MoT Test every four months. But... It sorta works. |

If we are going to have standards, then we might as well have good ones. I think three tests a year might be a bit excessive, but I'm not going to have a pop at a council that puts standards way in front of quotas.
