Taxi Driver Online :: View topic - Cardiff Cabbies to have returned to them £1.1 m

I have not got the full online version yet - Council to return £1.1m to the Cities taxi drivers who have been overcharged on license fees, since May 2009. It is estimated to be somewhere in the region of £390 and £600 per driver.

As others have been saying for a long time. Councils must set the fees for these licenses "On the basis that it only recovers costs which it is entitled statutorily to recover" they have obviously overstepped the line.

They are also facing two judicial reviews both to be heard on June 19th - I would assume that is to do with the charge that they lamped us with regarding charging us for Taxi Marshalls.

The interest due on your headline annual interest rate of a 4% example can be calculated and paid by your bank on a daily, monthly or annual basis. Having smaller amounts of interest paid more frequently is better than having a once-a-year lump sum. Then the 1 million pounds will have earned; 1 day - £110, 1 month - £3,333, 1 year - £40,742, 5 years - £220,997, 10 years - £490,833, 20 years - £1,222,582 and 30 years - £2,313,498.

I have long believed that they have been using us as a cash cow - some very nice salaries are being paid to our lot! It would also be interesting to see if they have been using licensing fees to foot the bill on any prosecutions! Nothing as of yet has come online - just the article in the "South Wales Echo".

Having said that I am sure that someone will be on the ball with that one. I have not posted anything further due to the fact that it made local newspaper, but not did not make media news. I find down here that the local rag seems to work hand in hand with the Council, and other big business, by not allowing comments/discussion about an article unless they have cherry picked it for comment/discussion - a bit of protection going on me thinks. It is the when nothing else can possibly go wrong scenario........and it does Having said that perhaps 2014 will be a bit different to 2013, regarding me acting like a one of life's conveyer belt with money, like taking it in one hand and giving it to someone else with the other As I say....I have no problem getting hold of money! It is the hanging onto it that is the problem

The figure that has been put out is rather sketchy at the moment, i.e I do not know if the interest has already been included, or not is the case. You can be rest assured that the question will be asked.
