Jailed: man who spared shooting Romford minicab driver because he was ‘nice’ to himAn electrician who spared shooting a Romford minicab driver during a robbery because he was “nice” to him has been jailed.
Luke Rogers, of Havering Road, Collier Row, was sentenced to four and a half years in prison after he pleaded guilty last week to the attack where he made off with the victims minicab.
In the early hours of July 2013, he arranged for a Star Minicabs to pick him up from North Street, Romford.
The driver, Dewan Ashrafi, 36, stopped at a cash point in Cedar Road, Romford, so that Rogers could get some money but when he returned he claimed his card had been retained.
Rogers then held an imitation firearm to the man’s chest and demanded money before he said: “You have been very nice with me and that’s why I’m not going to shoot you.”
He then pushed the victim away after the victim said his money was in the car. The assailant then drove away off in the minicab taking the victim’s mobile phone with him.
Rogers pleaded guilty to robbery and possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear, at Snaresbrook Crown Court on April 17.
