Serial rapist who started attacking girls aged 8 when he was just 12 has been jailed for 28 yearsA SERIAL rapist who started attacking young girls when he was just 12 was jailed for 28 years today.
Christopher Daniel, 25, carried out a "sustained and determined campaign of rape and sexual abuse" on five different victims over 13 years.
Daniel was a schoolboy when he raped a girl of eight - then carried out similar attacks on four other girls when they reached the same age.
He bought the girls' silence by bribing them with sweets and gagged one of his victims when she tried to scream by covering her mouth with his hand.
Judge Richard Twomlow told him: "You have been a calculating sexual predator - you are a dangerous man.
"The way the offences were committed in different locations as each girl reached a similar age shows you were manipulative and clever in avoiding suspicion."
The judge imposed an extended sentence saying taxi driver Daniel posed a significant risk of serious harm to members of the public.Married man Daniel had denied 20 charges of sexual abuse between 2000 and 2013, including rape, sexual assault and causing a child to engage in sexual activity.
But a jury at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court found him guilty of all charges.
Before he was sentenced the court heard how Daniel had devastated the lives of his victims who are all now in their teens and early twenties.
Prosecutor Lucy Crowther said: "One of Daniel's victims feels he removed her childhood from her.
"She is greatly upset that her adult life is still being ruled by him.
"She was eight when it first started. What was happening was wrong but it became a normal part of her life that she expected to happen.
"She struggles deeply in order to trust men. It is so deep rooted she feels she has to wash and scrub because she feels dirty if she comes into contact with other people.
"She feels extraordinarily guilty that if she had spoken up sooner, others would not have had to experience what they did. She does not know how to stop the guilt."
The court heard the girls' parents had been left feeling guilty because they had not protected their daughters from evil Daniel.
Miss Crowther said: "They feel guilty to the very core that they should have somehow known there was something wrong, so that they could have done something.
"They feel that they were unable to protect their children.
"Daniel has shown no remorse. He had tried to control them by putting them through the horrific ordeal of a full trial.
"He could have said sorry or admitted what he had done."
The court heard Daniel's wife and mother had never had any reason to suspect he had carried out such horrific abuse.
Daniel of Trealaw, Rhondda, was jailed for 20 years with an eight-year extended licence.
He will have to register as a sex offender for life.
