New series started today on BBC1 called "Call the council" , dealt with a few licensing problems in Thameside. It showed one guy getting he's plates removed from he's 12 year old private hire vehicle after a Saturday night spot check at the council depot. Then asked to appear on Monday at the licensing department to be told by the head of licensing that the car was no longer allowed to be licensed after the failed spot check and its 3 previous test failures.

Any taxi that's failed 3 consecutive MoT tests proves that it isn't being maintained and that the driver/operator is not a fit person to hold a licence.

Not strictly true! It does prove that the driver is rather naive in not taking the cab for a pre MOT, on the other hand it also demonstrates that honesty, as this case by doing it correctly, is clearly the wrong thing to do.
