Pair ordered out of taxi after drunken row

A Burnley man and woman have escaped jail for their part in a drunken fracas in a taxi. Stephen Redfern and Catherine Monks pleaded guilty to affray when they appeared at Burnley Crown Court. The court heard that Redfern (33), who has a long record for drink-fuelled violence, urinated out of the back door of the moving taxi and racially abused driver Atif Mumtaz.

Mr Bob Elias (prosecuting) told the court that the taxi, belonging to King’s Taxis of Yorkshire Street, had picked up the two defendants and two other people at midnight last July 23rd. Mr Elias said: “Both the defendants were drunk and had no money. The taxi agreed to take them to Brownhill Avenue with a number of stops for drink and to go to the cash machine.

“During the journey Redfern urinated out of the back door and later got into the front seat. He then turned the radio to full volume and racially abused the driver. “The driver then stopped in Ridge Avenue and told them to get out. A rather unseemly row took place. Monks also became involved and used unseemly language.”

Miss Sarah Johnson (defending Redfern) said: “Mr Redfern has a poor record with offences of violence. “However, he is now engaging with people who are helping him. He is now at a crossroads in his life.” Mr Jeremy Coleman (defending Monks) said his client was very lightly convicted and a mother to two young children.

Judge Simon Newell said Redfern, of Pine Street, had “sailed very close to the wind” and gave him a suspended prison sentence of 18 months with 18 months supervision. He must also complete 120 hours of unpaid work. Monks, of Hornby Street, was given a three month sentence suspended for 18 months. She must also undergo an alcohol treatment programme.

And if you turn it back down you're boring and have an attitude problem, apparently. :x
Because as they've paid for that taxi everything inside it is theirs to do whatever they want with for the journey, apparently, at least that's what the scrotes keep telling me.
And if I disagree I'm the one being rude and they'll complain to the office/licensing/newspapers. eusasmiles.zip
