Young man who smashed up stepdad's taxi walks free from court Michael Merryfield punched Mark Taylor’s Citreon Xsara Picasso so hard windscreen smashed A young man who smashed up his stepfather’s taxi after a row walked free from court despite already being subject to a suspended prison sentence. Michael Merryfield, 20, kicked the tailgate of Mark Taylor’s Citreon Xsara Picasso and punched the windscreen so hard it smashed after an argument at the family home in March. Prosecutor Mike Stephenson told Liverpool Crown Court how he had been taken to task over his cannabis smoking and rent money owed before “storming off” and saying: “See how much work Mark does after I smash his car up.” Police later arrested the Pontins kitchen porter, of Clifford Street, Southport , at his girlfriend’s house and he was taken into custody because he was the subject of a suspended sentence order for being the passenger in a stolen car. He admitted breach of a suspended sentence and criminal damage and was told by the judge, Mr Recorder Ford: “Your conduct on March 8 was more befitting of a child of half your age. “It was petulant, selfish behaviour. Even though you are 20 you have managed to amass 17 convictions for 20 offences since 2010.” He extended his suspended sentence by another 12 months and ordered him to undergo six months supervision meaning he could be released immediately from prison.
