Drugs gang has been jailed for a total of 30 years after plotting to flood Morecambe and Lancaster with class A narcotics.

The seven-strong team were involved in bringing the drugs and cutting agents in from Liverpool and West Yorkshire and processing them for sale on the streets of the town.

Judge Robert Altham, sentencing at Preston Crown Court, said: “The use of class A drugs causes illness, impoverishment, neglect of children, unemployment and associated crime in order to fund habits, and sadly, in many cases, it causes death.

“All of you who have pleaded guilty to class a offences have taken your own part in this destructive trade.”

Brendan Harrington, 31, of Longmire Way, Morecambe, and Keiron Webster, 26, of Schola Green Lane, Morecambe, were jailed for seven years and four months and six years and eight months respectively after pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply cocaine, heroin and production of cannabis.

Anthony Santana, 23, of Mears Beck Close, Heysham, was jailed for four years and two months after admitting conspiracy to supply heroin while Maurice Hryniw, 47, of Yorkshire Street, Morecambe, was jailed for four years and 10 months for conspiracy to supply cocaine and dangerous driving.

Alex Hargreaves, 44, of Queen’s Drive, Bare, was jailed for three years for conspiracy to supply heroin and cocaine after using his taxi to facilitate drug deals.

Scott Wood, 25, of Carleton Street, Morecambe, was jailed for four years and two months for being concerned in the production of cocaine and possession of cannabis with intent to supply after a drugs press was found at his home.

His partner Emma Archer, 23, of Roseberry Avenue, Morecambe, has been put on an eight-week curfew and 12 month community order after offering to supply cannabis.

Det Insp Colin Forsyth, who was in charge of this investigation, said: “This organised crime group operated for several months supplying cocaine, heroin and cannabis in the local area.

“The possession and use of a hydraulic press demonstrates the scale of their drug dealing activity which was a large scale commercial operation.

“Webster and Harrington were at the forefront of this operation, playing a leading role in organising those around them.

“They, along with Santana and Hryniw, made numerous trips to the Merseyside area involving the purchase and supply of drugs utilising their own tactics to try and avoid detection.”
