Quote: Mr Moffat said there was a slight defect with one of the taxi's headlights - but said tests showed the only way Mr Iqbal could have seen Miss Beresford-Cole was if he had the full beam lights switched on. He was travelling with the dipped beam on, the inquest heard Doesnt say if the Fault was on Mainbeam or Dipped headlights. Feck say, Drunk, drugged up Lying in the Darkest part of the road whilst dressed in Dark clothes....getting run over was just a case of when not if nor by whom..Poor Taxi driver will feel bad enough without being strung up for someone elses stupidity. Quote: Coroner Richard Hulett ruled Miss Beresford-Cole died as a result of a road traffic collision. That somewhat Infers the driver was in part to blame, You'd have thought Death by misadventure caused by the deceased would have been more like it. |

It really grinds my gears when people go out and get pissed then proceed to ram god knows how many grams of Columbian marching powder up their noses, after that they think they're invincible. Along comes a Taxi Driver who's going about his duties down a badly lit road and all of a sudden there's a bump comes from the underneath of the cab, he gets out and he's confronted with a woman who's laid in the road and who is possibly dead at the scene. Drag the Taxi driver through the mud and take his car off the road and rip it to shreds to see if they can find something to blame him with, (a faulty headlight). The coppers didn't find anything wrong with his cab or with his driving, the blame lies clearly at the woman's feet for lying in the road. Her parents must be so proud of her knowing she was a cocaine user. Rant over sorry. |

A stroke caused buy shoving cocaine up her nose and drinking alcohol? Do you know the road traffic act you throbber? After every accident all drivers are breath tested at the scene, the driver was obviously tested at the scene and was negative. Now wash that sand out of your fanny Gloria. |

Bet the claims company are well pi**ed off with that conclusion. All those 1000s they won't be claiming now. She was pi**ed, she fell in the street, and got squashed by a passing car that just happened to be a cab. |

It is a trait in this country in not accepting the word "Accident" in its true meaning and form - instead we have no matter what........WHO CAN WE BLAME syndrome! I am personally so p!ssed off with this nanny state situation of 1) they are of the age to be out but every other person is responsible for them, and 2) we the drivers are supposed to be the eyes of all. If you are big enough/old enough to be out until whatever time in turn getting yourself into whatever state..............then you are big enough to take responsibility for yourself

Did someone force her to get totally rat arsed and get high on cocaine? No! She was old enough, and you'd think sensible enough to know her limits. What if it had been a police car that had run her over? Or maybe some bigwig politician like Mr Prescott in one of his jags? |

Hell no of course not. The cabbie is an easy target. There was a case round here a few years ago, I'll post it up later I've got to nip out for a couple of hours. |

I think you may be being a little unfair here. This was an inquest not a criminal prosecution. There was no suggestion that the driver was to blame, in fact the police evidence did say that the driver would not have been able to see the woman unless his lights were on full beam. The driver would have been called to the inquest simply because he was involved and could shed light on to how this happened. |

I'm not being unfair at all I bet the police took months to let him know he was in the clear, even though he knew himself he was in the clear. I've seen how the plod work when there's been someone run over and killed through them being drunk and loaded up on drugs, they'll rip the driver and the vehicle to bits trying a find a fault so they can nail the driver, it's how they work, the motorist will always be the one to blame. |

The incident was on Feb 10th. The inquest was on June 11th. You are being unfair. |
