Taxi firm in bus lane fines battle DOZENS of taxi drivers are being forced to challenge bus lane fines, despite being exempt from the charges. Glasgow Taxis Ltd claim "big numbers" of drivers have been hit with fees for entering lanes they are legally permitted to drive in. The company say drivers are most commonly fined in error in lanes in the Argyle and Jamaica Street area. Drivers claim it can take up to a month to receive a reply from the council when they challenge the fines —but they are only given 14 days to pay the fine. The company has written to the council on behalf of 30 drivers who have been issued with fines recently, some more than once, it claims. Glasgow City Council said "a small number" of drivers had received penalty charge notices in error and said it would welcome a meeting with the company to try to resolve the issue. http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/tran ... e.24579628 |

takes 2 minutes to appeal the bus lane fines in Glasgow having had a few when I put my new PHV on in February(stopped counting at 20) appeals can be done via email and as long as you enclose your PHV or Hackney vehicle license theres never an issue i'd imagine that a lot of these fines are for new or recently plated vehicles as the system is fully automated and based on VRM |

Can taxis from any Council use Glasgow bus lanes ? I've never used them. Used Edinburgh bus lanes plenty times without problems though. |

Any licenced taxi can use a bus lane nationwide, its only private hire that cannot unless their council allows them |

I've seen bus lanes that do not include for taxis, and you've pointed out one which includes wav's only. But assuming the sign says buses and taxis, can I as a taxi from another council use it ? |

You can't in a Nottingham bus lane. If you move a bit further up the road towards the bus lane the road markings cancel out the signage due to it not stating WC vehicles only on the road. Its marked busses bikes and taxis only nothing saying WC ones only |
