I think he knew that with the advent of UBER the likes of Addison Lee were going to come under extreme pressure and he found a mug company prepared to pay a stupidly high price for something that would soon be worth very little.

yep you're correct - even the proposed changes to the law make no difference to London - despite what utterings were coming out of Addy Lee

With regard to the proposed changes, what is there so far in the "Bill" is very much open to change. No doubt, when it gets to Parliament many of us (I include myself) will be lobbying MP's and Peers for changes. If you think that the big PH Operators will not do the same you are sadly mistaken. They will do all they can to raise the value of their Companies by getting the final Bill to suit them best. We will all have our own corners to fight.

The proposed Bill is just that, a proposal.

All Drivers, proprietors, PH Drivers and even Operators have an awful lot of input yet before it is Law. That said, I can't see any possibility of anything coming to Parliament before the next election.

Personally I'm of the opinion that if Carlyle did indeed pay £300 million for Addison Lee it will have been in stages and subject to certain conditions. Perhaps those conditions have not been met and are not likely to without further investment. It could be that Carlyle keep % share in Addison Lee but make no further payments or investments for the company, they could of course just sell the shares they have if they feel they won't make the profits they envisaged

I think if they kept AL and expanded it to Airports then a lot of money could be made.

However I'm not sure this mob is in it for the long term, so they will be lucky to get their money back.
