Balloon-covered taxis and their generous drivers took blind and sensory impaired children on huge day out Around 40 horn-tooting taxis arrived with a special police escort as the Liverpool Taxicab Trade’s charity event rolled into the resort Dozens of balloon-covered taxis drove in to New Brighton as generous cabbies took almost 80 blind and sensory impaired children on a huge day out. Around 40 horn-tooting taxis arrived with a special police escort as the Liverpool Taxicab Trade’s charity event rolled into the resort. The group started with a party at the Floral Pavilion before heading out to make the most of the sunshine on the annual day out. The charitable taxi drivers picked up 78 children from the Royal School for the Blind, Wavertree and St Vincent’s school, West Derby before taking them for a day out in New Brighton. Chris Lysaght, a committee member and retired cabbie who helped organise the day, watched with pride as the children arrived at this year’s event. He said: “You talk to the children, especially the older ones, and it’s the highlight of their year. They look forward to this more than Christmas. “It’s tear jerking sometimes seeing them enjoy themselves, they absolutely love it.” source: http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liv ... ok-7399352 |

Nice to see 3% of the Liverpool taxi trade doing such a fantastic job. Well done to them, clearly the other 97% are too busy. |
