Minicab driver arrested in licensing operation A minicab driver was arrested following a series of taxi licensing checks in Aylesbury town centre yesterday. The driver of the private hire vehicle was taken into custody after he failed to provide a private hire driver licence. Five vehicles were stopped during the operation and four drivers were issued with warnings. The cautions were given for not wearing their private hire driver badge and having an expired first aid kit while one vehicle was displaying an expired private hire vehicle licence plate. The new plate was later found in his boot. The checks were jointly carried out by the Aylesbury town centre neighbourhood policing team along with officers from the licensing department of Aylesbury Vale District Council. source: http://www.bucksherald.co.uk/news/crime ... -1-6182342 |

But isn't the first aid kit is for the drivers own use anyway - under the health and safety at work act? The driver would be ill advised to attempt first aid on someone who's injured without knowing how to do first aid. |

Much the same as out local fire officer advising against the use of fire extinguishers on car fires. |

Our lot say that it is there for the use of a trained first aider, should one be available. I say the trained first aider should use their own. |

Its for the use of someone at the scene whos qualified to give first aid, off duty doctor nurse / paramedic if ever your vehicle is involved in an accident. Ditto re fire extinguisher. |

As ever it is not why it is a stipulation in our neck of the woods to have it. In answer to Grandad and this I only found out by "accident  " any creams/tubes of say anti infection types, have a "Do not use after a given date" on them.

First aid kits do not have any creams or lotions or tablets in them for this reason. |
