http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/59629/oil_waste_shocker.html Oil waste shocker DIY motorists pour a staggering 13 million litres of engine oil down the drain each year, it has been revealed. To put this in context, the average car contains enough of the hazardous liquid to create a film that would cover a four-acre lake. The Environment Agency, which published the figures, says dumping oil is illegal and anyone caught can be fined up to £20,000. However, its Oil Care Campaign manager, Richard Martin, told us the problem isn't as bad as it used to be. "Fewer owners are doing servicing at home as vehicle technology is getting more complicated," he explained. "It's now easier to go to a garage to have any work carried out, and the intervals between oil changes have also got bigger." To find out where your nearest oil recycling bank is, telephone 0800 66 33 66. |

Don't know about that, routine servicing is just about changing the plugs, filters and oil these days, isn't it easier now than before? Changing the oil certainly isn't any more difficult than it was in the past. |
