Man swore at taxi driver


A carer stood bare-chested on Blackpool Promenade swearing at a woman taxi driver claiming she had almost run him over.

Karl Taylor pounded on the cab bonnet with his fists and repeatedly kicked its grille, a court was told.

Taylor, 25, of Avon Close, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to causing damage.

He was given a six-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £168 compensation by District Judge Tom Moran sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.

Jane Yates, prosecuting, said the incident happened on the night of July 13. A woman was driving her taxi along the Promenade when Taylor stood in front of the vehicle forcing her to brake. Taylor attacked the cab, shouting abuse

Suzanne Mugford, defending, said her client, who had no previous convictions, had been drinking at home for most of the day before deciding to get on a train to Blackpool with his girlfriend. He had been drunk and could not remember the incident.
