More than 200 taxis will drive from the AJ Bell Stadium along Liverpool Road to the centre of Eccles, before arriving in Church Street, in honour of Mr Henning from Eccles, who was known to his friends as ‘Gadget’.
He was captured while delivering supplies during an aid convoy to refugees in Syria before Christmas.
A video released by terror group Islamic State showed his murder earlier this month.
His friend and fellow cabbie Stuart Ryan, who knew Mr Henning for 25 years, said: “I knew Alan from when he first started taxiing and I actually gave him the name Gadget because he always had gadgets in his cab. We worked together at New Lyle Cars.
“He still owned a taxi badge until he was taken hostage and he would still be a taxi driver today if he had made it home.
“We realised that he probably won’t have a funeral so this is our way of saying goodbye to Alan.”
The convoy will gather outside the stadium in Stadium Way at 3.30pm and leave at 4.30pm on Sunday.
