Man urinates in taxi office and spits on police

A MAN released from prison three months ago has admitted urinating in a taxi office on Bridge Street and spitting on police officers.

Scott Webb, aged 22, of Cabul Close, Orford, was very drunk when police were called to the taxi office at 1.30am on Saturday, October 25.

Halton Magistrates Court heard last Wednesday how Webb was found to have urinated on himself.

Alison Warburton, prosecuting, said officers were called to reports Webb had spat on a woman in the office.

"The defendant had been urinating in the taxi office and had been seen to spit on a female in the office," said Mrs Warburton.

"It became clear he had urinated on himself.

"He swore at the officers and said 'you can't arrest me for swearing'.

"He was warned by the officers and continued to swear and was arrested."

The court heard Webb carried on being abusive as he was placed in a police van, 'constantly spitting on the floor'.

Webb also spat on the collar of one officer's jacket, and the neck of another officer, meaning he was rearrested for assault.

The defendant pleaded guilty to two counts of assaulting a police constable, and to one count of using threatening words or behaviour.

Webb told the court he was 'embarrassed more than anything'.

Mrs Warburton said he was jailed for 10 months in February this year for burglary and possession of a knife.

It is believed he was released from prison in July.

Defending, Gary Schooler said: "(The defendant) had gone to the town centre and clearly consumed a considerable amount of alcohol.

"When asked about the level of intoxication on a scale out of ten, he said he was ten.

"His recollection was when the cuffs were applied they were too tight and were twisted.

"He doesn't offer that as any excuse to the reprehensible way he behaved to the officers."

District Judge Bridget Knight called it a 'horrible offence'.

She called for a report to be carried out into Webb's background before deciding sentence.

The defendant will be sentenced on December 3 at Halton Magistrates Court.
