I'm just back from Dunfermline today.

I saw umpteen of these things going to and from Edinburgh, all empty, all getting valuable funds which could be directed elswhere.

Yeah, just like the park and ride buses from ingilston(empty car park and empty buses), its crazy stuff, and who's paying? will there ever be a time when those with twisted vested interestes understand that the transport needs in Edinburgh are well served already or are we being naive

Is that, well served by the Edinburgh plate holders cartel with twisted vested interests in hiking up plate premiums and drivers rentals.

That is what you meant isn't it? :-|

I have some questions for Fife Taxi drivers regarding certain fares:

(a) how much would you charge from Pitmedden Road to Shandwick Place in the morning? And after midnight?

(b) how much would you charge from Shandwick Place to Pitmedden Road during the day? And after midnight?

I'm writing an article on the Taxibus issue and I'd like to make a price comparison between the various transport services available to the public.

I'm a freelance journalist looking to gather information from all parties.

The West Fife Taxi Owners Association is not listed in the BT Phone Book and searches on the Internet have proved to be fruitless. I can understand your cynicism as to my motives but they are purely professional.

I want to compare, amongst other things, the prices of journeys on all forms of transport, between Dunfermline/Fife and Edinburgh.

The thing about taxibuses is that they cost those that use them very little.

But cost the ones that don't bloody fortunes.

If you read my original post correctly you will see that I am asking for taxi prices and not Taxibus prices, which I already have. They were a lot more forthcoming with the information. As were First Scotland and Stagecoach.

Actually, don't bother, I'll get the information elsewhere. Your attitude does your profession no favours.

And the word is "defunct".

So Souter said the idea could work with public sector support"

Yeah? You don't have to have a wizard business brain like Soutar to realise that anything can work if local authorities are dipping into the publics' pockets to fund crap ideas.

You're not on Brian. You've gained "success" in an industry which is little more than a subsidy junky. The less you say to draw attention to this the better.

You got lucky. Like complete idiots we, the paying public, let you. Now faakk off and spend your own cash on your crap ideas. The next time you dip your hands in the public purse, I hope it's chopped off.
