Court officials say pay up fines or face car clamp

COURT officials have warned drivers who do not pay outstanding fines that their car may be clamped.

Scottish Court Service cite the example of a Drumchapel taxi driver, whose car they decided to clamp.

She failed to cough up £150 for a vehicle insurance charge issued at Glasgow’s Justice of the Peace Court.

On top of the figure the woman was forced to pay a fine for the clamping — driving her expense higher.

The court service warn that they can take the unpaid funds from benefits, wages and savings — as well as clamping the tyres of non-payers.

Don't matter she still has to pay because she was the driver at the time.

They cannot do that in Scotland, if she is not the owner, even if she was its a tool of the trade and cannot be removed, or clamped
