Post subject:  Interesting little snippet from Leicester

Abdi Warsame (40), of Charles Bennion Walk, Leicester, pleaded guilty to failing, as a Hackney carriage driver, to ensure the safety of passengers on April 13 by not bringing the taximeter into action as soon as the carriage had been hired. He was fined £130 with £150 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

Based on income, if this is an A band fine then he is declaring £260 a week.

I think there has to be more to this than has been reported. Could it be that the meter was not engaged at all? Or maybe the driver was a hackney driver from another district?

was going through the Leicester City council committee papers - everything to do with these things seem to be in part 2 ffs
