M5 closed in Somerset after taxi driver appears to abandoned two men Two men were left on the M5 last night after it appears a taxi abandoned them following an assault.
Initially the entire northbound carriageway of the motorway was closed at 9.30pm, and traffic was stopped between Weston-super-Mare and Clevedon.
Police received several reports of two pedestrians on the hard shoulder. One had sustained injuries consistent with an assault.
A police spokesman said: "We are still trying establish what has happened. There has been reports of some kind altercation involving a taxi."
After 10pm two lanes were reopened but one remained blocked off and traffic was queuing but moving again.
